Infidelity Case Through Surveillance in Central London

In this case, we were asked to provide a surveillance operative as part of a wider team involved in an ongoing domestic investigation. The subject was a woman suspected of conducting an affair with her employer at a place of work in Central London. The objective was to monitor movements, maintain observation, and gather clear evidence should the relationship extend beyond the workplace.
Surveillance Deployment
On the day in question, our operative was positioned at one vantage point covering an exit from the relevant location, while another operative covered the opposite side. Between them, the team had eyes on both exits and remained in communication throughout in order to coordinate movements and respond immediately to any development.
During the day, the female subject was observed entering the location. At a separate time, the male subject, known to be her boss, was also seen entering. Both remained within the premises for much of the day. At one stage, the female subject briefly left on foot for another location in London before later returning. While not the key event of the day, this formed part of the continuity of observation and confirmed that surveillance had been maintained properly throughout.
As is often the case in covert surveillance, patience was essential. Long periods passed without any obvious development. However, good surveillance work depends on remaining disciplined and alert even when little appears to be happening, as significant movements often come only after many hours of waiting.
Significant Activity Observed
Later in the day, at around 6:00pm, the situation changed. The female subject and the male subject were observed leaving together on foot and making their way through Central London. They were followed discreetly and carefully by the surveillance team, with communication maintained and imagery captured throughout.
The two individuals were then seen arriving at another location which appeared to be a residential address. The male subject was observed entering a security code to gain access to the building, after which both individuals entered together.
This became the key evidential moment of the operation. According to the client, the female subject had told her husband that she was still at work. We also understood from the client that her phone location was believed to show that it remained at the workplace, although we had no independent access to that data and relied only on the client’s account. What our operative directly observed, however, was the subject leaving the workplace area and entering what was later understood to be the boss’s apartment.
That observation materially strengthened the client’s concerns. The issue was not simply that the two had spent time together after work, but that they had entered a private residential building together while the subject was believed by her husband to be elsewhere.
Continued Observation
Following their entry to the building, the surveillance team remained in position with eyes on the location. Observation continued for approximately a further 90 minutes, with the necessary visual evidence retained and the client updated as appropriate.
After that period, both individuals were observed leaving the building. The female subject was then seen entering a taxi and departing the area, while the male subject returned inside what was believed to be his apartment.
This represented a significant outcome for the client. The surveillance had established that the subject had not remained at work as claimed, that she had travelled with her boss to a separate residential location, that both had entered together, and that she had remained there with him for a substantial period before leaving alone.
As part of maintaining continuity and in case of any further movement, the team remained on site for a further two to three hours, effectively until close to midnight, before being stood down by the client.
Evidence Through Patience and Professionalism
This case highlights the value of disciplined surveillance in sensitive domestic investigations. The evidence was not obtained through confrontation or intrusion, but through patient observation, effective teamwork, careful foot surveillance, and the skilled capture of imagery at the relevant moments.
It also demonstrates how important inconsistencies can become in an investigation of this kind. In this case, the subject was believed by her husband to be at work, yet was observed entering a private residential address with her employer and remaining there for a prolonged period.
